Justin Bower, Head Coach, RTC owner and former professional on the ATP tour, states: “We’re committed to creating and presenting the best community, environment, and programs for the enjoyment and development of adult members and junior players of every skill level.” Justin’s specialty is in junior high performance, paving the road for many talented and ambitious juniors whose goal is to obtain a tennis scholarship or even to turn professional. Ultimately, the Redmond Tennis Club will have nine indoor hard courts as well as three outdoor red clay courts. “Once we reach our end goal RTC will be a facility unlike any other in the Pacific Northwest”, says Head Coach Bower.
Working together with Justin is our CEO Charl Faurie from South Africa’s Caylix Sports Management (CSM). This is the only sport management entity in South Africa that presents International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Tennis Tournaments for which players can gain world ranking points from the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). This could create opportunities for local players at RTC to gain entry into these tournaments in order to get valuable world ranking points.
The new fitness facility will be run and managed by Fit2Play, a company that specializes in tennis specific training and athletic development. Currently Clay Runnels, who heads our fitness development and training, has a B.S. degree in Exercise Science and is accredited with the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Another first for the greater Seattle area is the staging of a tennis exhibition match at RTC in partnership with The Seattle Times. This match will see two players ranked in the top 50 world ranking go head to head. Former professionals including world number one player Matts Wilander will also participate. “We are currently negotiating with local companies to obtain sponsorships for this event”, says Faurie. “Our partnership with the The Seattle Times provides huge promotional opportunities for potential sponsors”.
